Live Life In Color

An almost normal day! Chris took Pop to see his surgeon, found out that the screws have pulled away a little bit due to soft bone, but his hip is healing well. Good news!
The children and I played! We did stickers, a tea party, colored blocks, and trains. A late lunch, and then naps and goodbye. All in all a good day because we enjoyed the colors!

What am I going to do with you Pop?

He was on his own last night for the first time in about 40 days, and he survived. Talked to him in the morning and then went there at 5pm to eat dinner with Chris and Pop. His Physical therapist was coming at 6pm. When Sue came, one of the first things she said was, "stop, that isn't safe!" "Let me show you how to do that."  Oh, he did it when she was there, but as soon as she left he did it his way. Just like a three year old, looking right at you and daring you to stop him.. He is exhausted at night and becomes confrontational. He is also having trouble remembering things and says he wishes he could nap ( after he has been sleeping for two hours). There is an excuse or "logical" reason for the way he is doing things.
Tonight was so frustrating for me that I cried on the way home. He makes me mad!!! I want him around forever and he is not cooperating!

Unexpected change

Unexpected Change can be like a breath of fresh air - a little brisk at first, but magic for the body and soul....
......Susan Wiggs in Just Breathe

Daddy and I were talking about this last night. Despite the drama and the pain ,some good things have come out of  Dad's broken hip. He has been the best patient (unusual in itself......what is going on?), He has started to exercise more than he has in years and guess what? He has his appetite back. He now proudly proclaims that he ate everything on his plate and asked for dessert. I think he realizes how lucky he has been, living on his own for so long. He hasn't had a cigarette in almost 40 days , and says he doesn't want to start again. But....isn't there always a but, I hope he hasn't gotten spoiled. He gets three square meals served to him, either Chris or I visit him everyday and talk, watch TV or play dice games with him. (By the way, the man's luck has been phenomenal since he entered the rehab center). He's ordered a hospital bed, two commodes, a walker and a wheel chair ( He has enjoyed the accommodation's at Rehab) for home.

Remember that my word for 2010 is change, and accepting change has never been my strong point. But I am trying to embrace the changes that are coming my way. I hope I recognize the magic!

Just Breathe

Don't you hate reading a blog, enjoying it and then the person stops, and doesn't post for a long time! I have a favorite author who has done that to me. Georgia Bockoven hasn't had a novel published in about two years...She is a very good writer.....real life must have gotten in the way. I miss getting lost in one of her stories.

I am reading Just Breathe by Susan Wiggs. Love the title, it was my mantra for Emilie's wedding and I think I am borrowing it again for last month and the coming month.Going to bed and just reading seems to be giving me some peace.

Woke up the other morning to the sound of buzzing. My window was open with the screen in, so I said , without opening my eyes, "that better be buzzing and dive bombing on the outside." I heard it hit the screen, opened my eyes, saw that it was on the inside, grabbed a magazine and smashed it twice. Was the biggest bee I have ever seen.

Check out the girl with attitude! Kamryn got into my jewelry and thought that this necklace looked good on her head. A throwback to the sixities

Busy, Busy, Busy

9AM, Saturday, at Pop's with Caroline, to meet Aunt Chris, who already has machines going! We are going to Spring clean as much as we can in four hours. Every window we can get to move is open.....go away smoke smell. Caroline is the best cleaner I have (Thank you, Caro)
Linens, laundry, comforters, toaster cover....anything that didn't move, we earmarked for washing. Four bags of garbage and four bags to take home and wash, and that clean smell through out the house! We accomplished a lot! There is a chance Pop will be coming home on Wednesday. Ready or Not!
Then....on to pick up Emilie and her stuff so that we could scrapbook at Angela's house. Tried Ling Ling Potstickers Chicken and Vegetable dumplings (Shop Rite) which were delicious! I was too strung out to really scrapbook so I messed with my week in the life album and then played with my new stamps on journaling cards for it. Barbara Base made a special Sangria just for me....A Bay Breeze flavor, potent but delicious. Emilie and I shared a Chicken and Broccoli chinese dinner and we couldn't eat it all and we stayed until 10:30 when Ang had to leave to go pick up her munchkins from a birthday party. All in all , a good day!

I'm BAD

Yes, I am. I broke the law and of course the law got me! What were the odds! Traffic was stacked up from the Bridgewater Promenade all the way to Finderne Avenue around 6pm. Stop and Go! I was late to start with, going to visit my Dad. Just before Finderne Ave, the road turns into two lanes, so brilliant me decides to ride along the shoulder. I rode right past a cop who then poceeded to stop me, lights flashing. I was calm but then couldn't find my registration or insurance card (which were all together, right where they were supposed to be) Sure, I was calm! After pleasantries he gave me a lesser ticket for careless driving, only two points for that versus five points for riding the shoulder, and a mere $85.00!!!!
Mad!Mad!Mad! but at whom?

And the week in the life continues.....

The main difference today was that Samantha and Kamryn were here. I took less pictures today than I did on Saturday and Sunday. Tomorrow will be hard not to repeat the same shots from today. I guess that is where CREATIVITY comes in.
