The Middlesex Pool

We joined every year when our kids were growing up! We couldn't afford more but the pool was enough! It made it summer! Fast forward 15 years and today I went to the Middlesex Pool with my son Tim, his daughter Kamryn and Emilie's daughter Samantha! Those two kids had a blast! I loved watching them and playing with them there.(of course I might not be able to move tomorrow....so I am posting immediately :)
We ate lunch , brought from home in the snack bar. Then back to our towels under the tree near the kids pool to put on sunscreen.
This is so not the baby pool that Tim and I remember. This new kids pool has a gradual entrance that goes up to 2 1/2 feet deep. There is a giant frog at one end and the kids slide down his tongue into the pool. In the center of the pool is a large toadstool water fountain. It is pretty impressive!
The girls were surprised that they could kneel in the pool without their heads going under.
Kamryn

Does it look like the frog is throwing up two cute little girls? Or am I mistaken?
We arrived at the pool around 12:30 and we left at 5pm. The girls were only out of the water for about 1/2 hour of that.
Uncle Tim and I shared catching responsibilities....The slide was so fast that the girls would have gone under water each time they went down the slide. Once or twice we would miscalculate and someone would go under! From then on Samantha said, "please don't let me go under Uncle Tim."
Kamryn did not like it when her face got wet. I had to inform her that she WAS in a large pool of WATER and that she had to expect that her face would get wet. She was a very good sport about it.

The temperature was near 100 degrees but somehow there always manages to be a breeze at the pool.
I do suggest that they improve their announcement system as it probably is the same one they had fifteen or twenty years ago and you cannot understand one word that they say! It was a great day, one I hope we get to repeat!

Apology and Expo

First let me apologize to Emilie for excluding her photograph in my Father's Day post. It was a gross oversite! She attended the festivities and even went in Aunt Chris's pool! She helped Kellen in the pool! She reads this blog! How did I do?

THE MEMORIES EXPO

This is me with Jenni Bowlin of www.jbsmercantile.com fame!
Ali Edwards uses many of her scrapbooking items and mentions her all the time on her blog.
I finally met Jenni here in Somerset, New Jersey. We chatted and then she graciously agreed to a picture! Thanks Jenni Bowlin :)

I went to the Expo with these two characters. On the left is EMILIE REX TOMARO, my daughter that I left out of the Father's Day post!
On the right is her friend, Melissa.
You can tell they are the new generation because they went to the ladies room together and then checked their cell phones. OMG!

How was the expo, you ask? - well....we walked all 3 rows of vendors, spent two or more hours doing so and I only spent $28 dollars......unheard of! I won't tell you how much money I had brought.
Emilie and Melissa spent conservatively also. We went to Houilihans for lunch and then made a trip to Michaels because we still had the urge to shop! My total for the day only $50.00!
A good day with fun people!

Black Magic Medicine

Iodex is a black, gooey salve that my mother used to cure almost all children injuries. Primarily she used it as a drawing salve. If you had a splinter and you wouldn't let your mother get it out she would take out the iodex, apply it in generous quantity and then bandaged it. Let it cook for a day or two, unwrap and low and behold the splinter usually popped through the skin to be easily removed. AMAZING!  It became the magic medicine and was then used on any cut or scrape and left to perform it's miracles. You can still buy it today but you have to ask the pharmacist for it (if they are any good they will know what you are talking about)

Family AND the Beach!

Don't know exactly what town we were in, it was south of Keansburg at an on the Bay Restaurant.

Can you see my yacht at the end of the pier?

Very serene and calming! Seagulls gliding overhead.

Tom Weaver, Elizabeth Weaver Miller, Jacob Weaver, Doug's arm :)

Ginger Rex Weaver in the middle - Doug's little sister, 10 years younger.

Clouds building over the Parkway North, going home.

Route 287 North, torrential rain almost all the way home!
We have now seen the Weavers twice in one year! We might be going for a record!

I haven't even started yet!

Grounds For Sculpture

The first day of summer...temperatures in the 90's...a forty acre outdoor museum

 Pat Rex and Janelle Bulle
A good friend....our cameras....lunch! A perfect day!

It was fun playing with the camera. I wondered what it would look like in the fall and with snow. I would definately like to return at a different time of day, a cooler day, a spectacular fall color day  or at dusk. Even if I took the same pictures......It would change everything!
