Today was a day.......

Called Pop around 10:30am to wish him a happy 90th Birthday. He said thanks but sounded a little funny. I asked him if he had had a rough night. He hesitated and then said "I wasn't going to tell you this but I fell Saturday night and I think I might have broken a rib!" I asked him if he was going to the Doctor. He said no. I said to him that I could get Emilie to take care of Kamryn and Kellen for me and I would come and take him to the Doctors. He said NO! What Part of NO don't you understand? He was screaming! He was Yelling! I haven't heard that kind of uncontrolled yelling from him in years. He said something to me (can't remember exact words) but it caused me to retaliate with "If you do that then I will call the ambulance to come and get you." We had to end the conversation, before we said more things we would regret.
I hung up and was shaking, sure that Pop was in so much pain that he couldn't think straight. I called Chris (my sister) and told her that Pop had fallen and that he was screaming. She was in the middle of getting her hair highlighted (we laughed together at the timing), she needed at least an hour before she could meet me at Pop's house. I paced for that hour! I am not good at waiting. Meanwhile Chris had called her husband Charlie at work. He said that we could not legally insist that Dad go to the hospital.
(his sound mind and all). Caroline has tried to call him and has  left a message for him to call her back, since he did not answer her call. I now have him laying in a pool of blood, unconscious on the kitchen floor (in my imagination).
I arrive at Pop's house first. He is in the kitchen, sitting in his wheelchair, at the kitchen table. I have made him mad that I have come to check on him. I tell him that Chris is coming and should be here in minutes. He tells me that he is not going to the hospital because on Thursday, Sears is going to deliver his new washer and dryer! OMG! REALLY? He is still really yelling....but not as bad as before. He tells me He is going to do what he wants to do! He is in control and will decide when he needs to go to the doctor or the hospital.
Chris arrives. Pop is still aggitated. I have tears dripping out. Chris is calm and tries to reason with Pop. Pop yells at me, says this is my fault, I overreacted! To which I replied.....you are not going to blame this on me! I am getting mad, and when I get that mad I cry!( Do you think that I had nothing better to do with my day than to run out here to see if you were okay?)
Pop then tells us that he is driving himself to New Brunswick to his Cancer Doctor appointment. We ask if we can drive him. "NO, NO, NO! I AM GOING BY MYSELF. to which Chris replied, "Then I will just happen to follow you to the hospital to see my clients. (Chris sells imprinted items to the hospital). Pop was not happy. We were not happy. We gave up. Fine! Do it!
He actually leaves us in his house to lock up and he left for the Dr. I asked Chris if she had had lunch, so we went to the diner. We ate and spent two hours calming down and trying to figure out what the hell had just happened.
Happy 90th Birthday Dad!

And it gets even better........

Long story short......Emilie was in the hospital for five days. They could not operate on her because her pancreas was inflamed and her liver enzymes were high. On Sunday, February 19th (the 15th anniversary of my mother's death) The doctors removed Emilie's gall bladder and appendix laproscopically. She was home, recovering Monday afternoon. While in the hospital she could not eat or drink and she lost 10 pounds. I stayed with Samantha at their house for those five days. She has not driven yet and she goes back to the doctor this week for follow up, but it seems that she is on the road to recovery.

Look Mommy! We cleaned just for you!
Samantha and I really bonded !
I love that little Girl!

Feel the Love!

Hey! I am still here. A lot has gone on this month. You can tell when I don't have anything nice to say.....I just stop posting. What have I been doing? Eating, sleeping, babysitting, worrying, texting, and then doing it all over again. Not enough energy to scrapbook, take pictures or to keep up with my 365 album (That is just wrong!!!)
On January 27th my friend Barbara Base's mother was injured critically in a four vehicle accident in South Brunswick. Alma Smith, 77, the victim, was hit by an SUV (the accident was not her fault - just the wrong place/wrong time). She was taken to Robert Wood and was unconscious for a week. She is slowly making progress.
Our neighbors on Greene Avenue were robbed in broad daylight on Sunday, January 29th. (locking our doors has become routine.
Friday, February 3rd, Samantha starts running a temperature on and off all day and I babysit her at my house until 10pm. (She was better the next day.)
Thursday, Feb.9th, Arrived at Emilie's house at 5:30am. Em was having medical test for ulcers. I got Samantha up, fed, dressed and out to Pre-K, went with her on her class trip to the post office and then took her home, Went out to lunch with Matt, Emilie and Sam. Got back home to find the dog in distress with poop clinging to his behind.(That almost pushed me over the edge). We had to muzzle him, leash him to the rail of the deck, loop a sheet under his back legs (so he couldn't sit down) and then guess who had to use very fine scissors to delicately snip the hair and poop away from the dog's anus? It is my dog! It is my dog! I was too wired to take a nap or to go to bed early so I didn't go to bed until 11:30pm.
Friday, February 10th, Babysat all three grandchildren. Fun and uneventful. Robyn comes to pick up
Kamryn and Kellen and asks if I had heard yet that Tim had been laid off!!!!! He has been working from home for the last 6months for a company in South Carolina. When Caroline walked in from work I said, "Tim got fired today!". She said, Oh, No!, Why?". Kamryn burst into tears wanting to know what happened to Daddy? Robyn, stayed calm and immediately dialed Tim, so that he could tell Kamryn that he was OK. It must have been our tone of voice that set her off. Good job Grandma!
Saturday, February 11th - Whitney Houston died. Emilie and Tim and I watched The Bodyguard , with Whitney and Kevin Costner over and over again. I know she had problems but it still made me sad.
I guess these were not earth shattering problems looking back on them. But you add daily jobs, sleep deprivation, no free personal time, a stuffed up nose since January........I couldn't pick my head up off the pillow!
SO, I am looking forward to March. My father turns 90,my grandson turns 1, and my granddaughter turns 4. Think of all the birthday cake to eat!
