Ring-Around-The-Sun........

The pictures above were taken through the Somerset Medical Center Parking Deck windows today around 2pm in the afternoon. I was driving there when I saw people outside their buildings, with their hands over their eyes, looking up at the sky. I was driving and wondering what they were looking at. Then on the radio, 101.5, I heard that there was a spectacular ring around the sun.

 

The photo below, was posted on facebook. The person had a much better camera than I. The picture shows the ring of ice crystals refracting the rays of the sun and forming a circular rainbow. The size and intensity were impressive.

 

A nimbus or icebow is an optical phenomenon produced by ice crystals creating colored or white arcs and spots in the sky. Many are formed near the sun or moon.

Mother's Day

Beautiful blue skies, sunshine and strong spring breezes made up this day. Glorious!
All my children, their spouses, and my grandchildren were there.
The man that made me a mother was there to share the day with me.
The only cloud was the reminder that my Dad is not doing well. It reminds me of how fragile and fleeting life is. It reminds me of all the family members that have lived and gone before me.
So, I took in deep breaths of air. I closed my eyes and let the sunshine warm me. I listened to the sounds of laughter and living. I wanted to soak it in. To remember this day forever. If I could leave a message to my children, I would tell them that family is everything. Living is hard and often a struggle but family makes it all worthwhile. I have been and continue to be so lucky. I have it all!

It's Official!

Spring has arrived finally!

I cleared the debris, transplanted things I wanted to save, planted the new plants and earned 3 weight watcher activity points. I probably won't be able to move tomorrow. I also bought 12 bags of black mulch that is waiting for another day. I will put down layers of newspaper first and then cover with mulch, to keep the pesky weeds out.
